1. Title of the book: Chirp 2. Author: Kate Messner A girl named Mia is moving to Vermont to help her grandma with the Cricket farm. Mia used to do gymnastics until she fell off the beam and broke her arm. She would just sit around and watch T.V. Now Mia is going to an engineer camp and warrior camp. She is trying to help save her grandma's farm and find out who is vandalizing the farm. Mia did save her grandma's farm with the help of her new friends Clover and Anna. I like this book because it was adventurous and was a mystery. I hope you like the book too! Will Recommends...

Weekly Writing Prompt
Week of March 30
Informative How To Writing: Explain the process of something you enjoy doing at home. You could explain the process of making your favorite food or meal, playing your favorite board game or video game, building a structure or fort, completing a household chore, etc. Imagine that your audience has never completed the task you are describing, so be specific!
- First plan your writing. Write the steps with details. A good way to make sure you’ve included enough details is to narrate out loud as you go through the process from start to finish. Maybe you ask a sibling or parent to write down what you say.
- Hand write or type a final draft.
- Present at the end of the week during a class virtual video meeting. You can present by reading aloud your final draft or film yourself reading aloud your final draft as you demonstrate each step.

Creative Writing Prompts
1. Think of a problem that you see in the world and come up with a creative solution for that problem. Would you make an invention? Would you improve an existing technology? How would this solution make the world a better place? 2. Since you’re at home for the next few days, think about your dream bedroom. What would it look like? What size would it be? What colors would you paint the walls? What fun activities would you be able to do there? How would you feel in your dream bedroom? 3. Start a fictional chapter book about adventures while school is out. What creative things would your character do while at home? |
